DESCRIPTION:This session we have challenged ourselves to raise the bar and build on the quality of what we offer as an organisation. As part of our committment to raise the quality of experience for children and young people we will be running eight roadshows across the region. \nThe roadshows will create the opportunity to bring leaders together and offer updates and workshops from both a Regional and Headquarters perspective led by members of staff\, key volunteers and external partners including Urban Saints and the Additional Needs Alliance. \nThe programme for each roadshow will include: \n\nUpdate on the Raise the Bar Campaign\nIntroduction to the new Under 11’s Programme\nWorkshop on Delivering a Quality Programme\nUpdate on Online Brigade Manager (OBM) Developments\nUpdate for Brigade Training Officers on Youth Leader Training (YLT) Relaunch\nWorkshop on Working with Children and Young People with Additional Needs\nQ&A Session with Staff and Key Volunteers\n\nAll those attending will receive a goody bag containing a range of resources and samples from some of our partners along with a sample pack containing activity cards for the new Under 11’s Programme. There will be opportunities to talk to members of staff and key volunteers on a wide range of matters and network with leaders both within and outside your Battalion/District. \nThere is a registration fee of £5 to attend which includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day. You can book to attend by clicking on the Eventbrite link below. SUMMARY:Battle’s Over – A Nation’s Tribute
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 11th November 2018\, the United Kingdom and its friends overseas will mark the day 100 years ago when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War.\nThere are a number of opportunities to get involved\, this is a chance for BB members to take part and pay personal and community tributes to those millions that gave their lives for their country or returned home wounded during or after the dreadful darkness of four years of War 1914 – 1918. \nFull details of how your BB Company can take part in this unique historical and important commemoration can be found in the Battle’s Over Guide which is available to download here. \nThe Boys’ Brigade along with young people from the Air Training Corps\, Army Cadet Force\, Sea Cadet Force\, and the Light Infantry Buglers Association are being asked to play the Last Post at more than a thousand locations across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Specifically\, The Boys’ Brigade is being asked to play at local Churches at 6.55pm on Sunday 11th November\, followed by the ringing of the Church bells at 7.05pm (where your Church has bells and you can coordinate this with your Church). \nThe organisers are looking to publish a list of the locations at which Buglers will play the Last Post (and ring the Church bells) and are therefore asking BB Companies to register their participation by 1st July 2018. To register your participation please email brunopeek@mac.com with your Company Name\, Church Name\, Church Address along with a Contact Name\, Email Address and Telephone Number indicating if you will be taking part in playing the Last Post and/or ringing your Church bells.\nWe hope to encourage as many Companies as possible to participate.

DESCRIPTION:The Grimsby and District Battalion are running a Youth Leader Training Course which will take place over two Saturdays 28th April 2018 and 12th May 2018 at St Giles Methodist Church\, Addison Drive\, Lincoln LN2 4LQ. Attendance on both Saturdays will be required to complete the training. \n\nYouth Leader Training is the core training for anyone who wishes to become an officer / leader in The Boys’ Brigade.\nThis course is open to current Officers and Leaders who wish to refresh and or update their existing skills and knowledge.\nIt is also open to other leaders / helpers who wish to extend their skills and knowledge in working with children and young people but who may not wish to become officers.\nPrior to being appointed as a Lieutenant leader are required to have satisfactorily completed a Youth Leader Training course.\nWarrant Officers should complete Youth Leader Training by the end of the first complete session after registration\n\nThis course covers the essential core modules for both under 11’s and over 11’s plus additional programme modules. \n\nFor those leaders who only require the Safeguarding and Child Protection modules\, this can be achieved by attending the morning sessions on Saturday 09th June 2018.\n\n  \nCandidates wishing to attend any of the above training are asked to complete the appropriate accompanying booking and candidate information forms\, then return them to Mr Iain Betts at the above address. \nThe closing date for bookings is Friday 13th April 2018. (All candidates under the age of 18 will be required to bring a special Activities Consent form with them on the training days.) \nThe cost of the full YLT course is £10.00 per candidate\, including lunch. \nThe cost of the Safeguarding and Child Protection module only is £5.00 per candidate including lunch. \nCheques should be made payable to Grimsby and District Battalion. \nFees for members of the Grimsby and District Battalion can be waived. \nIf you have any questions or issues regarding this training\, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Iain Betts.

Attendance on both Saturdays will be required to complete the training. \n\nYouth Leader Training is the core training for anyone who wishes to become an officer / leader in The Boys’ Brigade.\nThis course is open to current Officers and Leaders who wish to refresh and or update their existing skills and knowledge.\nIt is also open to other leaders / helpers who wish to extend their skills and knowledge in working with children and young people but who may not wish to become officers.\nPrior to being appointed as a Lieutenant leader are required to have satisfactorily completed a Youth Leader Training course.\nWarrant Officers should complete Youth Leader Training by the end of the first complete session after registration\n\nThis course covers the essential core modules for both under 11’s and over 11’s plus additional programme modules. \n\nFor those leaders who only require the Safeguarding and Child Protection modules\, this can be achieved by attending the morning sessions on Saturday 09th June 2018.\n\n  \nCandidates wishing to attend any of the above training are asked to complete the appropriate accompanying booking and candidate information forms\, then return them to Mr Iain Betts at the above address. \nThe closing date for bookings is Friday 13th April 2018. (All candidates under the age of 18 will be required to bring a special Activities Consent form with them on the training days.) \nThe cost of the full YLT course is £10.00 per candidate\, including lunch. \nThe cost of the Safeguarding and Child Protection module only is £5.00 per candidate including lunch. \nCheques should be made payable to Grimsby and District Battalion. \nFees for members of the Grimsby and District Battalion can be waived. \nIf you have any questions or issues regarding this training\, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Iain Betts.

DESCRIPTION:The Grimsby and District Battalion are running a Building Your Skills course (formerly Grade 3 Leadership) which will take place on Saturday 21st April 2018 at St Giles Methodist Church\, Addison Drive\, Lincoln LN2 4LY. \nThis course is for those young people usually in school year 10 or above who are working towards completing the President’s Badge mandatory requirements. The course is largely practically based and will encourage young people to work as a team. Activities will include role-plays\, simulation games and discussions. \nIf you have any candidates wishing to attend\, I would be grateful if you would return the accompanying booking form to me as soon as possible. The closing date for bookings is Saturday 31st March 2018. \nAll participants will be required to bring a completed special activity consent form with them\, anyone failing to do so will be not be allowed to participate in the training course.  \nThe cost of the course is £5.00 per candidate\, which includes lunch.  Cheques should be made payable to Grimsby and District Battalion.
